Who did it better: Gail vs Taryn or Kaitlyn vs AJ?

Fresh off the heels of the memorable match between AJ Lee and Kaitlyn at Payback, TNA has upped the ante for women’s wrestling by announcing a ladder match between Gail Kim and Taryn Terrell.

While the knockouts championship hasn’t come into play at this point, I’m sure this announcement will lead to some kind of triple threat ladder match for the knockouts title. And if that turns out to be the case, that’s very impressive.

While we wait for the particulars to be worked out, I’d like to dissect the previous encounters between WWE Divas Kaitlyn and AJ Lee from Payback, and Gail Kim vs Taryn Terrell from Slammiversary.

Both matches got significant attention, and one of these matches even caught the eye of TMZ. But by viewing both without the hype, which is the better match?

Let’s find out together.

First, let’s take a look at Gail vs Taryn.

Now let’s take a look at Kaitlyn vs AJ Lee from Payback.

Verdict: It hurts me to say this because I throughly enjoyed Kaitlyn vs AJ, the better match as far as physicality goes is Gail vs Taryn.

I can’t remember the last time I saw a woman take a dive or chair shot in any main stream women’s bout. This match is ground breaking, and I can’t ignore how good it is.

TNA, while lacking in other important areas, is at a totally different level in women’s wrestling than WWE. With a roster of veteran women wrestlers, and a mix of up and coming rookies, TNA consistently delivers above the bar women’s wrestling matches, and they aren’t afraid of letting their women take risks.

WWE has a great story with former friends turned enemies AJ and Kaitlyn. And believe me, I’m into the story and I’m loving what I see. But I’d really like to see WWE take the same risks with their women wrestlers that TNA has.

Can you imagine if WWE announced a Last Diva Standing match? I would absolutely short circuit.

It’s been proven with wrestling companies like Shimmer that ladies wrestling is popular enough on its own. It’s really time for WWE to have faith in its Divas division and give them the tools they need to put on matches that surpass TNA. They’re too big of a company to be ignoring such an important and money making part of the wrestling market.

With AJ Lee as Divas Champion, I can only hope this means WWE is ready to throw their weight behind their women. And that can only benefit them and the fans who want to see them as the best in the industry.

Which match do you think is better?
